DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team placed five players in double-figure scoring and cruised to a 79-52 non-conference victory over visiting Cairn University.

The Aggies get back .500 at 6-6 overall while the Highlanders fell to 4-5.

Cairn scored the first basket of the game, but DelVal got the next six after treys from Ashley Smink and Dom Moser, and the Aggies did not relinquish the lead the rest of the night.

They outscored the Highlanders 19-14 in the first quarter and used a 10-0 run to start the second to open up a 15 point lead.

DelVal dominated the second stanza, outscoring Cairn, 22-9, to take a 41-23 lead into halftime. Moser and Sarah Wills each had 10 points at the break and the Aggies held a 27-17 advantage on the glass.

The 18-point deficit was the closest the Highlanders would get the rest of the way as DelVal continued to outrebound Cairn, 47-35, for the game and forced the Highlanders into 16 turnovers en route to the 79-52 triumph.

Moser led all players in the game with 17 points and 13 rebounds and added four assists and two steals. Wills finished with 16 points to go with five boards and four assists. Smink and Monika Smallwood each recorded 12 points with Smallwood hauling in six rebounds, and Smink contributing five assists and two steals. Lauren Moretti finished with 10 points, three rebounds and four steals and Danielle Skedzielewski pitched in eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. Amber Grohowski and Lauren Sweger also got on the score sheet with a bucket apiece, and Camryn Shaw grabbed five rebounds, four offensive, in just five minutes of work.

Cairn was led by Dakota Hitchner's 12 points and five rebounds. Payton Emerick added nine points and six rebounds while Aigner Bookard and Victoria Stum each scored seven.

The Aggies are right back at it at home on Saturday, January 5 with a 1 p.m. tip against Washington College (Md.).
