ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevenson University women's basketball senior Sara Tarbert was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year on Thursday morning, the second straight year that she has earned that honor.  Tarbert was also named First Team All-Conference for the third consecutive season.  Sophomore Jonyae Curry earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Tarbert becomes the first player to repeat as MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year since Lebanon Valley's Andrea Hoover did so in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.  An eight-time conference Player of the Week, Tarbert currently ranks fourth nationally in scoring (23.0 ppg) and seventh nationally in rebounding (13.5 rpg). She leads all of NCAA basketball (all three divisions, both genders) with 26 double-doubles on the season, and posted her 27^th straight double-double Wednesday night against Messiah (21 points, 15 rebounds) to establish a new NCAA Division III record for consecutive double-doubles.

Tarbert leads the MAC Commonwealth in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage (.514), blocked shots per game (1.7) and steals per game (2.8).  She is second in minutes played per contest (36.9) while also leading the Mustangs and ranking 14^th in the conference with 2.6 assists per game.

Curry has started all 21 games in which she has appeared, averaging 10.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 44.3% from the floor.  The sophomore has reached double figures in scoring 11 times, including a career-best 18 points in a win at Virginia Wesleyan.  Curry also leads the Mustangs in free throw shooting at 80.6% on the season.

Stevenson, 17-9 overall, fell in Wednesday night's MAC Commonwealth semifinal at Messiah and now awaits word of a possible ECAC berth.  The 16-team ECAC field will be announced on Monday, February 27.
