DUDLEY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team overcame a slow start to take down host Nichols College, 54-48, Wednesday evening inside the Nichols Athletic Center in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

In the Gulls' final road game of the regular season, junior forward Hannah Shaw (Bar Harbor, Maine) erupted for a big night off the bench with a team-high 19 points and a game-high/career-high 20 rebounds to account for 40 percent of the Gulls' total rebounds in just her second game back after missing eight games in the middle of the season.

Nichols held an 8-5 edge after one quarter of play before Endicott rallied to outscore the Bison, 18-9, in the second frame to take a 23-17 halftime lead and this margin proved to be the difference as the second half produced identical results for the two teams.

The Gulls led by as many as 12 points in the third (30-18) before the Bison inched back to within four (41-37) with 9:02 remaining in the fourth quarter for the closest they would get the rest of the way.

Endicott fended off Nichols' attempt at a late comeback to get back to .500 for the first time since Dec. 3, 2016 of this season at Eastern Nazarene.

  • Shaw demolished her previous single-game career-high of rebounds set one game ago (13) against Gordon on Feb. 4, 2017 as her 20 boards tonight ranks tied for second all-time in a single game in program history with senior forward Sarah Hood (Burlington, Mass.) for the most rebounds in a single game this season. (Hood had 20 against UNE on 12/06/16).
  • 20 rebounds is the second-most in Endicott single-game program history, behind only Kayleen Whall's 23 against Rivier on 11/16/14
  • Junior guard Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) joined Shaw in double figures with 11 points and seven rebounds to go with two assists and one steal.
