Courtney Adams had another big day for the Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team with her second consecutive 20-point game as she tied her career high with 29 points leading the River Hawks to a 74-52 victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

Adams started slowly for Susquehanna (14-7 overall, 5-5 Landmark) hitting just three of her first eight shots but turned it around and connected on 11 of her last 13 shots from the field.

"It was a good team win for us today," said head coach Jim Reed. "We felt from scouting that we could exploit the post so we wanted to get the ball to Courtney (Adams) as much as possible. She has a tendency to start a little slow sometimes but she turned it around at the end of the first half and in the second half."

Adams was not alone as Tess Nichols finished with 14 points and tied with Adams for the team lead with seven rebounds. Six of her points came from 3-point range as she connected on two of the three 3-pointers on the day for the River Hawks. Nicole Gault finished with seven points and a team-best seven assists.

Goucher (4-16, 0-10) took a slim 9-8 lead early in the game but Gault hit a driving layup with an assist from Nikki Komara to regain the lead for Susquehanna and spark a 16-2 run to end the first quarter as the River Hawks held a 24-11 lead at the first break.

In the second quarter, the Gophers cut the lead to 10 at 29-19 but Adams scored the next five points to regain control. A Nichols 3-pointer at the end of the first half gave Susquehanna a 41-25 halftime lead.

Adams and Nichols combined to score the first 12 Susquehanna points in the third quarter as the River Hawks opened up a 28-point lead at 55-27.

The River Hawks are at Catholic Wednesday and return home next Saturday for a matchup against Drew. The four seniors on the Susquehanna roster will be honored prior to the Drew game.
