ROME, Ga. (Jan. 6, 2017) – Behind a career-high 32 points from sophomore guard Bella Taylor, the Sewanee women's basketball team improved to 1-1 in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) action with a 67-58 win at Berry, Friday.

Taylor was outstanding finishing 14-of-22 from the field. Additionally, she had four rebounds, three steals, an assist, and one block. Taylor's 32 points were the highest single-game total since Dana Middleton scored 36 points on December 16, 2011. Sophie Brawner, who scored 37 points against Johnson in 1981, holds the Tigers' single-game scoring record.

Along with Taylor, Hannah McCormack finished with 10 points while Sue Kim added 11 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and an assist.

Down 47-43 with 8:11 left to play, Taylor sparked the comeback with a three. After back-to-back layups from Taylor and Kim, Sewanee continued to roll.

After two misses from Berry, Taylor pushed the Tiger lead to six with a three. She then scored eight straight points which gave Sewanee a seven-point advantage, 60-53, with just over a minute remaining.

From there, a combined seven free throws from Kim and Corey Caulder capped off the victory.

Overall, Sewanee made 43.3 percent of its attempts. The Tiger defense also played well. Sewanee forced 22 turnovers, which led to 13 points.

Sewanee continues league play at Oglethorpe, Sunday. That contest is scheduled to tipoff at 1:00 p.m. (EST).
