Hood's Early Struggles Too Much Against LVC

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team dropped their conference matchup with Lebanon Valley College, 75-53 on Saturday afternoon.

  • Ebony Pitt led the Blazers with 19 points. She was 5 of 10 from the floor and also grabbed four rebounds.
  • Dajah Gee added 13 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks for the Blazers. The freshman scored all of her points in the second half. 
  • Amanda Hackney scored eight points of her own and had a team-high seven rebounds for Hood.
  • Allie Appleby led the team in assists with four and scored five points of her own.

How it Happened

  • Hood (3-5, 1-2) fell behind early, after scoring the game's first two points, the Blazers went ice cold. Hood missed its first 11 field goals and trailed 21-3 after the first quarter and 50-13 at halftime.
  • Lexie Lantz dominated the first half for the Dutchmen, scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 boards in the opening 20 minutes. She hit 10 of 13 field goals in the half.
  • However, the Blazers showed fight in the second half, outscoring Lebanon Valley in the second half 40-25. The second half surge was led by Pitt and Gee. Pitt scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half, while Gee scored all of her 13 points in the final half.
  • The Blazers held Lantz to just three second half points.

Notes

  • Lebanon Valley (5-4, 2-1) was led by Lantz, who scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
  • LVC had two others in double figures on the day, Hilary Yoh with 12 and Anne Lehr added 11 points.
  • The Dutchmen shot 43 percent in the game, while the Blazers ended the afternoon at 36 percent. LVC outrebounded Hood 47-31.
