MANHATTAN --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball tied a season high by scoring 45 first-half points Thursday evening en route to an 80-47 Skyline Conference road victory over the Yeshiva Maccabees at ARC Arena.  With the win, Old Westbury (5-2) jumps out to a 3-0 start in conference play for the first time since 2008-09.  The setback moved Yeshiva (0-8) to 0-5 in Skyline action.  

Yeshiva held its lone lead of the game with a short-lived 5-4 advantage with 7:58 remaining in the first quarter.  Old Westbury answered by outscoring Yeshiva 41-13 over the final 17:20 of the half.  Old Westbury set a season high with 27 first-period points to take a commanding 45-18 lead into intermission.  

Old Westbury's largest lead of the game was 44 points (68-24), coming after a layup by Crystal Barnes with 53 seconds left in the third period to cap a 23-6 run.

Entering the fourth quarter trailing 68-30, Yeshiva scored 17 of the game's final 29 points to trim the final count to 33 points.   

15 Panthers reached the scoring column on the evening led by Barnes and Jasmine Robinson, who each poured in 17 points.  Barnes combined her scoring output with a career-best 18 rebounds to register her 13th career double-double.  She also swatted two shots and nabbed one steal in 20 minutes of action.  Robinson, Raven Pentz andTori Bellings all came away with three steals while Pentz went for 10 points and five assists.  Monique Joseph swept away a career-high four steals as Bridgid McNeill set a personal record with nine rebounds.  

Yeshiva's Julia Owen led all scorers with 21 points.  

Old Westbury connected on season highs of 44.9 percent (31-of-69) from the field and 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from three-point range.  The Panthers also landed 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the free-throw line.  The defensive effort was strong all evening, with the Panthers holding the Maccabees to just 26.8 percent (19-of-71) from the floor, 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from behind the arc and 25 percent (4-of-16) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 64-35, scoring 22 second-chance points off 21 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers also held the advantage in steals (20-6), blocks (4-3), assists (17-12), points in the paint (48-20), points off turnovers (22-18) and bench points (28-9).     

MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: After completing a three-game road trip, Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Dec. 12) afternoon to take on the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in Skyline Conference action at 12 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center.           

On Saturday, Old Westbury's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will once again join forces with the United States Marine Corps for the fifth-consecutive year to host its second Toys for Tots event in as many weeks.  Fans are invited to donate new, unwrapped toys that will later be distributed to children in need.  Admission is $3 or a new, unwrapped toy, and students are free with school ID.  Fans can drop donations in the marked "Toys for Tots" bin at the entrance to Clark Athletic Center.
