Continentals finish season in NESCAC tournament

The Hamilton College women's basketball team ended its season with a 78-33 loss to host Amherst in the quarterfinal round of the NESCAC Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon at LeFrak Gymnasium. The seventh-seeded Continentals (11-13) were making their first appearance in the NESCAC playoffs. The second-seeded Lord Jeffs (23-2) are ranked eighth nationally.

Amherst closed the first half on a 14-2 run, turning a five-point lead into a 17-point halftime lead, then scored 16 of the first 18 points after intermission to take control.

Dani Feigin led the Continentals with nine points and three steals. Adrianna Pulford '15 contributed six points and six rebounds and Samantha Graber '16 finished with six points. Olivia Pimm pulled down eight rebounds to lead all players and added three steals.

Ali Doswell scored a game-high 15 points with Hannah Peterson adding 14. Jamie Renner and Meredith Doswell scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. Amherst shot 57.1 percent from the floor – including 73.9 percent (17 of 23) in the second half – while holding the Continentals to 22.9 percent accuracy.

Hamilton scored the game's first four points and held a 9-6 lead 6:53 into the opening period before Amherst took over.
