NEC Denies Terriers, 72-39

With the loss, the Terriers fall to 3-15 (3-9), while NEC improves to 10-9 (6-6) on the season.

The Pilgrims went ahead just seconds into the contest on a three-pointer by Kayla Lawlor, and never relinquished the lead throughout the game. Thomas was able to keep the game within reach for most of the first, until a shooting drought midway through the period saw the visitors go on a 13-0 run and lead by 18 points, 32-14 with 5:08 remaining.

In the second half, NEC continued to outshoot the Terriers, and extended their lead to as many as 30 points with a free throw by Jackson at 1:55, and ended up being the final score, 72-39.  

Taylor Burgess led the charge for New England College, contributing with 18 points, and a game-leading 12 caroms. Lawlor added 15 points, while Stephanie Parker chipped in with 13 off the bench in the win.

Elizabeth Goodall scored 14 points, while Ashleigh Gagne helped with five points and eight boards for the hosts.

The Red and Black were unable to get anything going from the floor, shooting a mere 17.5% (10-57) from the field, while their counterpart went 24-62 (38.7%) from the floor, and 30% (6-20) from beyond the arc.

NEC held a 54-41 advantage in rebounds, 32-12 in points in the paint, and 24-0 in points off the bench.

Thomas will return to action at the Mahaney Gym on Tuesday, Feb. 4 when they host non-conference foe Fisher College. Tipoff scheduled for 5pm.
