This past Saturday night in Steele Hall on the campus of Fredonia State University, the Blue Devils' senior guard Becky Hebert found her scoring touch – again. Hebert torched the nets for a school-record 44 points. The point total smashed the old standard of 36 set by… Becky Hebert. Just one week earlier, Hebert broke another scoring record, becoming the school's career scoring leader. She topped Cheryl Kindzia's six-year old record of 1,370.

That wasn't all. Over a nine-day span, Steele Hall was witness to four records and one 1,000-point milestone.

Last week, it was the men's Tyrone Clark that tied a single-game record. The Fredonia State senior went for 45 points to tie a 29-year old standard in an 87-61 win over Potsdam. Just two hours earlier, Hebert had set her career mark with an 18-point effort.

Not to be outdone, the following night when the Plattsburgh women came to Steele Hall, their senior stalwart Kathleen Payne broke another record and became that school's all-time scoring leader. Payne finished with 19 points to give her 1,447 and moved her into the No. 1 spot on the Cardinal's all-time list. She set her mark early in the first half.

In an effort to upstage the visiting Cardinal, that same game saw Fredonia State senior forward Jaimie Warren pass the 1,000-point plateau late in the game. No word as to who has the actual game ball from that contest.

Hebert, already a two-time all SUNAYC scoring champion, leads the conference again this season, currently at 23.6 points per game. That ranks her 13th nationally. In addition to scoring, she is also leading the conference in field goal percentage (58.1 percent), free throws made (89), minutes played per game (35.9) and is third in free-throw percentage (84.0).

Hebert has not only put up numbers on the court, she also has gotten the job done in the classroom.

On January 30th, the senior Math Education major was named to the Capital One Academic All-District women's basketball team on the strength of her athletic and academic accomplishments. She carries a 3.44 cumulative grade-point average with one semester remaining. She is now eligible for the Academic All-American team, chosen from among all eight NCAA districts.

Hebert and the Devils return to Steele Hall in two weeks, when they play host to Geneseo and Brockport. No telling how many more records will fall then.
