Women's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team won their fifth game in a row with a 77-45 victory over visiting Franciscan on Monday evening in AMCC action.

Lindsy Sammarco led Mount Aloysius as the senior narrowly missed a triple-double in just 23 minutes of action. She recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Becky Bard continued her stellar play with 20 points, including six three-point shots, and six steals. Abbie Zinobile notched eight points and four blocks, while Haley Bender was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc to finish with nine points.

The Mounties jumped out to an early 8-0 lead as Sammarco and Bard hit three-point shots and Bard added a lay-up. The home side ended the half up 37-18, and the lead got to 39 with 8:48 to play in the second half. The Mounties got everyone involved as 11 players hit the scoresheet.

Defensively, Mount Aloysius held Franciscan to 22.7% shooting for the game.

Mount Aloysius returns to action on Wednesday evening with an 8 p.m. contest against Pitt-Greensburg on the road.
