Thomas Caps Thrilling Comeback in Albright's 76-75 Win Over Widener

The Albright College women's basketball team completed a thrilling comeback on Saturday in the Bollman Center, coming from 20 points down in the second half to shock Widener 76-75.

It was a crucial decision for Albright in the Commonwealth standings, as they are now tied with Widener for the final playoff spot when it looked like they would be two games out with the Pride holding a head-to-head sweep.

Albright also ruined an outstanding performance by Widener's Jennifer Egee. Egee made 7-of-12 three pointers and finished with 36 points on 10-of-21 shooting.

For the Lions, sophomore Kelecia Harris has 22 points and 12 boards, while classmate Kadijah Bishop (nine points, 14 rebounds) just missed a double-double. Freshman Shannon Thomas (16 points) and junior Amanda Tiritilli (10 points) each were in double-figures while providing the deciding baskets down the stretch.

Egee sank two triples in the final minutes to give the Pride a 74-67 advantage. Tiritilli answered with a pair of threes at 56 and 37 seconds however, to cut the deficit to one.

Widener missed both free throws, Harris kicked out to Thomas, and the rookie drove for the winning basket with nine seconds remaining. Harris stripped Egee on the ensuing inbounds pass and time eventually ran out despite Harris then traveling with two seconds on the clock.

Egee had 17 points in the first 15 minutes of the game, sinking a three-pointer to give Widener a 30-18 lead with 5:38 left. The Pride held a 42-23 advantage at halftime.

Courtney Colella's three-point play on a pass over the top gave the visitors an early 7-2 lead. Harris completed a tough hoop in traffic to make it 9-4.

Egee drained a pair of deep three-pointers early in the first half for a 15-6 Widener advantage.

Harris drew a double-team and fed Bishop with a nice pass to make it 19-12 Widener. Egee answered with a hard drive however, and then went to the hole again for a 25-12 lead.

Widener led by as much as 20, 45-25, early in the second half. Albright rallied but the Lions were held at bay until the end by Egee, who sank several three-pointers from 25+ feet.

Albright (11-6, 5-5) will travel to Arcadia on Wednesday.
