HAMBURG, NY – La Roche women's hoops forced 42 turnovers and held Hilbert to a season-low 45 points as the Lady Redhawks (10-3, 5-1) cruised to an AMCC victory on Sunday evening. La Roche downed the Hawks 98-45.
The Lady Redhawks never trailed in the game and led at halftime 48-24. Casie Cygan scored 19 first half points and added 4 steals.
La Roche turned to their bench in the second half to take the 53 point victory. Sabrin McLin scored 10 points in the second half while Demetria Coleman scored 7 points.
Casie Cygan paced the Lady Redhawks with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals. Sabrina McLin scored a career-high 17 points and Leslie McPherson added 9 points. Mackenzie O'Donnell (9 points, 11 rebounds) and Danasha Harris (9 points, 10 rebounds) each finished a point shy of a double-double and O'Donnell chipped in 5 steals. Macy Pekala had a game-high 7 assists in the victory.
La Roche outscored Hilbert off of turnovers (50-9), in the paint (46-22), and on the fast break (24-2). They also outrebounded them 48-40 including 24-12 on the offensive glass.
The women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Franciscan University. The Barons have won two straight games.
