OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team was defeated by St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears on Saturday afternoon, in what was a non-conference matchup, by the score of 77-75 in overtime. With the loss, Old Westbruy drops to 2-4 on the season while St. Joseph's improves to 6-3.
In the first half, the Panthers struggled to maintain any consistency, and behind a 14-4 run from 13:32 to 9:33 St. Joseph's took command by the score of 26-17.

Old Westbury pushed back, registering the next six points, but St. Joseph's then put together an 8-0 streak of their own and went up 11 points on the Panthers.

Down 34-23, Old Westbury had work to do. Feeling the urgency the Panthers grabbed the next 11 points, but eventually went into halftime down 38-32.

The second half began with both sides exchanging baskets, but St. Joseph's eventually maintained command. Up nine with 3:21 to go, the Bears appeared poised to collect their sixth victory of the season, but an 11-2 run—capped off by a three-pointer by DeAndra Scott with 40 seconds remaining—ensured that the two sides would head to overtime tied at 68.

Old Westbury took a one-point lead in the opening 25 seconds, but it was the only advantage they'd have in the extra frame. Although the two sides traded points for much of overtime, St. Joseph's eventually outlasted the Panthers and claimed a 77-75 victory.

Despite scoring more points off turnovers (24-12) and on fast breaks (20-12), Old Westbury fell victim to St. Joseph's deep bench. The Bears held the 12-2 scoring advantage and their ability to maintain fresh legs allowed for an energy edge in overtime.

Old Westbury also had its worst shooting outing of the season firing at 34.5% (29-84 FG).

Scott's 23 points were tops in the game, while her 14 rebounds were second to only St. Joseph's Samantha Retas (15).

Jasmine Robinson collected a game high five steals to go with 17 points of her own while Raven Pentz netted 10 and added five helpers. Raven Price, who shot 7-9 from the free throw line, scored 15 and pulled down 11  rebounds.

Kelly McNamee scored 22 points to lead the way for the Bears.
