Lady Mavs Dominate Rival Hilbert in AMCC Opener

HAMBURG, NY – The Medaille College Lady Mavs earned their first AMCC victory in the opening of conference play against Hilbert on Wednesday with a dominating (86-58) win over the Hawks.

The Lady Mavs wasted no time getting started as they jumped out to an 11 point lead just four minutes into the game on route to a 50-point opening half.

The Mavs shot 41.8% (18 of 43) from the field but did even better from the free throw line with an 83.3 percent (10 of 12) mark. They also played well on defense holding the Hawks to only 24 first half points.

The second half was a little more even between the teams with the Mavs winning the second half as well 36-34.

Medaille was tough on the glass as they outrebounded Hilbert 49-29 including a 24-9 edge on the offensive glass.  That helped the Mavs get 30 points in the paint.

The Mavericks had four players in double figures led by Danielle Reinwald who finished the game with (17) points and (9) rebounds. Also contributing was Joelle Pollak with (15) points and (5) rebounds and Janae Hamilton with (14) points and (8) rebounds.

The Lady Mavs (3-3, 1-0) will travel to Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday to play LaRoche College at 4 p.m.
