ALTOONA, PA – La Roche women's basketball extended their win-streak to six games with a 65-56 victory over Penn State Altoona in their AMCC Conference opener.
The Lady Redhawks held a distinct edge on the glass to take a four point lead into halftime. They outrebounded the Lions 30-14 including six offensive boards by Mackenzie O'Donnell.
La Roche turned to their tough perimeter defense in the second half to hang on for the nine point victory.
O'Donnell registered her third double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 boards and hit 7 of 8 free throws. Casie Cygan had 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals while LaShauna Brothers totaled 10 points and 6 rebounds. AMCC Player of the Week Danasha Harris finished with 6 points and 4 rebounds.
The Lady Redhawks held Penn State Altoona scoreless beyond the arc and had a 50-39 advantage on the boards. They also outscored the Lions by 13 on second chance points and by 24 in bench points.
La Roche women's basketball will host Medaille on Saturday in a rematch of the 2011 and 2012 AMCC Championship Games. Medaille is coming off a victory over Hilbert.
