Taylor Jandrin (Jr.-Forestville, Wis.) scored 20 three-pointers and hit a key three-pointer late and the Lakeland College women's basketball team withstood Marian (Wis.) University's three-point barrage for a 73-61 win Thursday night at Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies scored the final 13 points of the game, overcoming a big early deficit and earning a sweep of the season series against the Sabres. Lakeland kept alive its hopes of reaching the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament and improved to 9-13 overall and 7-8 in the NAC North Division.

The Muskies went ahead for good when Becky Mayo (Sr.-Gladstone, Mich.) hit two free throws with 2:53 to play for a 62-61 lead. Lakeland stopped the Sabres (4-16 overall, 3-10 NAC) on their next two possessions, and Jandrin gave the Muskies some breathing room with a three-pointer making it 65-61 with 1:42 left. Lakeland then hit all six of its free throws down the stretch.

For the second time this season, Marian peppered the Muskies with three-pointers. The Sabres hit 14 triples, following up the teams' first meeting when they hit 15 threes.

The visitors got an early jump, scoring the game's first 11 points and taking a 14-2 lead when Sarah Albert hit the Sabres' fourth three-pointer with 15:38 left in the first half. Marian cooled off some after that but led the entire first half and took a 30-28 lead into the break.

The two teams traded the lead early in the second half but Lakeland seemed to take control when Paige Papineau (So.-Green Bay, Wis.) scored on a layup for a 51-45 lead with 11:30 to play. The Muskies would continue to hold a slim lead until the Sabres heated up again, and Rissa Cerveny's trey capped an 8-0 spurt and gave Marian the lead back at 60-58 with 4:03 to play.

Leah Eisner (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis.) helped the Muskies to a distinct advantage inside, finishing with 18 points and 13 rebounds, and her two free throws tied the game at 60-60 with 3:50 to play. Marian took the lead back when Brianna Tietz split two free throws with 3:14 to play, but the Sabres would not score again the rest of the way.

Jandrin was 7-of-11 from the field and hit four three-pointers as the Muskies hit ten triples of their own. Mayo added nine points and ten rebounds, and Lakeland out-rebounded Marian 47-35. The Muskies shot 33.8% for the game, making 23 of 68 shots, but collected 21 offensive rebounds and committed just seven turnovers.

Sarah Albert scored 21 points to lead Marian, with all seven of her field goals from long range. Ashley Backes added 15 points. The Sabres shot 38.6% overall (22-of-57), including 14-of-38 from beyond the arc (36.8%).

Marian ranks among the NCAA Division III leaders in three-pointers made per game, coming into the game averaging more than eight triples per contest.

Lakeland will play its final regular season home game on Saturday when it hosts Aurora (Ill.) University at 2 p.m. at Woltzen Gymnasium.
