Explosive Second-Half Start Carries Montclair State Past Rutgers-Camden, 67-39

Camden, NJ - Sophomore Melissa Tobie (Elizabeth, NJ, Roselle Catholic) and freshman Shalette Brown (Somerset, NJ, Franklin Township) each scored six points in an 18-0 run to open the second half as Montclair State remained unbeaten with a 67-39 win at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday.

Tobie finished with 13 points while Brown had 12 along with nine rebounds and eight steals as MSU broke open the game in the second half to improve to 7-0 on the year, 5-0 in the NJAC.

Montclair State led 25-21 at the break but burst out of the gate with the first 18 points of the half while holding the Scarlet Raptors off the scoreboard for the first 8:22 of the period.

Sophomore guard Janitza Aquino (Kearny, NJ, Kearny) had 11 points for the Red Hawks, who held Rutgers-Camden to just six field goals over the final 20 minutes of the contest.

MSU returns to action on Monday, December 10 as they host Stevens at the Panzer Athletic Center. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
