Hamburg, NY-The D'Youville women's basketball team opened the AMCC portion of the schedule with a big 73-50 win at Hilbert College.
Shannon Dougherty (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) recorded a game-high double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Dougherty had only 10 field-goal attempts making six, three were three-pointers. Bridget Andrews (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) went for 20 points, powered in part by five three-pointers.
Danette Laguerre (Buffalo, NY/Hutch-Tech) chipped in 10 points and recorded a game-high 5 steals and Maria Rosati (West Semeca, NY/St. Mary's) had a team-high 4 assists to go with 8 rebounds.
The Spartans were only behind once in the game, at 2-0, and jumped out to 38-24 halftime lead. Hilbert didn't get any closer than down 10 in the second-half and the Spartans led by as many as 28.
D'Youville (2-3, 1-0 AMCC) will play defending conference champion La Roche College at home December 1. Start time in the College Center Gym is at 1:00 p.m.
