Titans Top Chatham 56-40 on Senior Day

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - In its last regular season home game, the Westminster College women's basketball team topped Chatham 56-40 today in Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. The contest was played in conjunction with the Women's Basketball College Association Pink Zone, raising awareness for breast cancer.

The Lady Titans improved to 8-14 overall and 8-8 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), while the Cougars dropped to 1-15 overall and 4-19 in the PAC.

The first half went back and forth as there were two ties and four lead changes. Chatham had a 9-4 early lead with 14:09 on the clock, courtesy of two Lizz King three-pointers. Following the Cougars' largest lead of game (15-8), the Titans went on an 11-2 run to lead 19-17 with 4:29 left in the half.

After leading 26-23 at halftime, Westminster shot 44% (11-for-25) and held Chatham to just 22.2% (8-for-36) in the second.

Sophomore Courtney Zitt (Latrobe, PA / Greater Latrobe) led the Titans with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, and a game- and career-high four blocks. Junior Katie Hughes (Boardman, OH / Cardinal Mooney) followed with 11 points, while senior Emily Dolsak (McDonald, OH / McDonald) and junior Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, NY / Starpoint) chipped in with eight points each. Dolsak also added six rebounds. Sophomore Gabby Holko (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Alvernia) added a game- and career-high four steals, all coming in the first half.

Along with Dolsak, seniors Emily Montone (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville) and Tamber Schaef (Guys Mills, PA / Maplewood) played in their final home game. Montone finished the game with three points and two assists.

For the game, the Titans outshot the Cougars 38.6% (22-for-57) to 27% (17-for-63) and outrebounded them 45-40.

Westminster has two games on the road before postseason action begins. First up is at Bethany on Wednesday (Feb. 15) at 6:00 p.m.
