Senior Kristyn Tempora carried the Brewers with an 18-point, 15-rebound double-double. Despite Tempora's inside presence, Kean held a 48-24 points in the paint advantage in an otherwise even contest.

The Brewers (6-2) begin Liberty League play on the road against Skidmore College on Friday, January 6, at 6:00 p.m. The Cougars (10-2) enter NJAC play with an away game against Rowan University on Wednesday, January 4, at 6:00 p.m.

Vassar could only muster three one-basket leads in the second half but never allowed Kean a lead greater than seven points. Down 52-49 with 8:10 remaining, Vassar took its final lead of the contest at 53-52 with buckets by freshmen Nyah Berg and Colleen O'Connell. Kean regained the lead with a pair of free throws by Naimah Clemons.

A Tempora 3-pointer cut the lead to 57-56 with 5:53 remaining, the closest Vassar came to taking the lead in the final minutes. Kean put the game away with a 5-0 run for a 67-60 lead with 2:14 left.

Vassar's largest lead of the game was 18-11 halfway through the first half following a 9-2 run on four points each from Tempora and Berg.

The Cougars managed to keep Vassar's potent backcourt duo, senior Brittany Parks and sophomore Cydni Matsuoka, to single digits in scoring, but freshman Colleen O'Connell chipped in with 14 points. Matsuoka added nine assists to seven points and seven boards.

For Kean, Clemons led all scorers with 28 points and added seven rebounds. Erika posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench.
