UW-Oshkosh forced UW-Platteville into a 3-for-20 shooting start and registered a 62-47 women's basketball victory on Wednesday (Dec. 8) in Platteville.

The Titans (6-4/1-1 WIAC), who were averaging 18 turnovers per game, committed just nine miscues. Michelle Boeder (Sr. • Oshkosh) led all players with 17 points, while Shelby Churchill (Sr. • Sheboygan) marked 14 points and 13 rebounds.

There were a total of 14 points during the contest's opening 12:44. Following a span of four-plus minutes with no scoring, Churchill dropped in two free throws to put the Titans up, 10-8. The Pioneers' (4-5/1-1 WIAC) Ashley Callahan then made two baskets to tie the score at 14 with 3:59 on the clock.

A Katie Kitzke (So. • South Milwaukee) jumper from behind the arc put UW-Oshkosh in front, 21-18, at intermission. UW-Platteville then obtained a brief cushion on Claire Poad's long-distance field goal in the second half's opening minute. Boeder regained the lead with two hoops of her own, and the Titans led, 32-28, with 13:24 to play.

A 14-4 scoring run put the game out of reach. Kelsey Myklebust (Jr. • Wisconsin Dells) accounted for three consecutive lay-ups midway through the half. After Boeder converted a fast-break lay-in, Laura Ebbens (Sr. • Appleton) drained a jumper with 9:12 remaining to make it 46-32.

Megan Wenig (So. • Oshkosh) contributed four late free throws as UW-Oshkosh led by at least a dozen points the rest of the way. Wenig guided the Titans with three assists on the night, as Myklebust tacked on eight points and Kitzke seven points and five rebounds. UW-Oshkosh finished with 45 percent shooting (24-53), 1-of-9 accuracy on three-pointers and 13-of-14 makes at the charity stripe.

UW-Platteville had one player in double figures – Ashley Henry, who compiled 10 points and 11 boards. Callahan (six rebounds) and Poad each added eight points. The Pioneers, who shot 29 percent (19-66), owned a 41-36 rebounding margin and committed 11 turnovers. They also struggled from long range (1-11), while sinking 8-of-10 free throws.

The Titans will play the late game of a home doubleheader against UW-River Falls on Saturday (Dec. 11).
