Brooklyn, NY---The #2 seeded Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team (16-10) advanced to the CUNYAC / Con Edison Championship Semifinal Round on Saturday as they defeated #7 Staten Island 79-62 at the West Quad Center.
The semifinal matchup will be played on Tuesday evening at 8 pm at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium in Upper Manhattan. The Bulldogs will face the #3 seeded Lighting of Lehman College who defeated Hunter this afternoon.

Brooklyn started the game just where they left off in their last meeting with Staten Island, as they jumped out to a 15-4 lead 7:28 into the game. Five BC players contributed with baskets to that point, including six points from junior center Justine O'Callahan.
CSI responded with a 14-5 run, capped by a Katelyn Hepworth layup with 7:47 remaining to cut the Brooklyn lead to two, 20-18.
A Kelly Jamison basket upped the lead back to four for the Bulldogs, 26-22, however the Dolphins went on a 9-0 run, as an Allie Shanahan three gave her team the 31-26 advantage.
Brooklyn bounced back, getting a Lauren Plagainos three, and then five straight points from freshman Allison Donovan to close the half with a 34-31 lead.
The second half started well for the home Bulldogs as they went on an 8-0 run to open up an 11-points lead as Elisha Raiford knocked down a mid-range jumper on a feed from Ariel Smith with 17:15 to play.
CSI came right three 3-point baskets, one by Nicole Quattrocchi and two by Allie Shanahan, to get her team back to within three, 43-40.
Brooklyn would go on another big run, an 11-0 surge to take command of the game, as a Tiayana Logan basket and foul would push the lead to 14. BC would balloon the margin to as many as 22 with 3:39 remaining, as Smith knocked down her fifth three-pointer of the game.
Smith filled up the stat sheet, as she led her team with 25 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes of action. Smith was 10-17 from the field, including 5-7 from behind the arc.
O'Callahan chipped in with 11 points eight boards, while Plagainos also notched 11 points, while dishing out seven asssists.
Staten Island was led by senior Allie Shanahan who scored 22 points in defeat.
Brooklyn has now won their last five contests against Staten Island, including all three meetings this season.
The victory was the 100th career win for Brooklyn Head Coach Alex Lang.
