(Buffalo, NY) – The 19th ranked Medaille College women's basketball team ran their lead to (22) points with under seven minutes remaining and overcame a valiant (15-2) run by the Spartans en route to a (64-55) win over crosstown rival D'Youville College. It is the seventh straight win for Medaille and it puts them one win away from a second straight AMCC Regular Season Championship, and a fifth in six years.

Freshman Bianca Smiley (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) had a career night as she matched her best scoring performance with (24) points while setting a new mark on the boards by pulling down (13) caroms, ten of which came off the offensive glass.  The Lady Mavs pulled down (23) offensive rebounds, compared to just (6) by the Spartans.  They outrebounded D'Youville (46-35) in the game.

Senior point guard Kacie Mills (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) tallied (13) points and pulled down (2) rebounds while coming up big on the defensive end of the floor with (4) steals.  Fellow senior Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) contributed (10) points as did Meghan Dougherty (Buffalo, NY/Nichols).

The win pushes the Lady Mavs record to (21-2) overall and they head into their final AMCC game with a (16-1) conference mark.  Saturday (2/19) will prove to be a huge game for Medaille as they head to La Roche College for a pivotal matchup, with the winning team earning the AMCC Regular Season title and the privilege of hosting the conference championships.
