#20 Mount Union Takes Care of Business at Ohio Northern, 79-69

ADA, Ohio -- The No. 20 ranked Mount Union women's basketball team maintained sole possession of first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 79-69 victory at Ohio Northern University Saturday in Ada.

The Purple Raiders (20-3, 13-3 OAC) reach the 20-win plateau for a second-straight season and stay a game ahead of second place Baldwin-Wallace (17-6, 12-4), a 79-64 winner at Capital, in the conference standings.

Mount Union can clinch the OAC's regular season title and top seed in the OAC Tournament with a win over Baldwin-Wallace next Wednesday (Feb. 16) at 7:30 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

Junior guard Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) led the Raiders with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Senior guard Katie Crider (Brunswick/Brunswick) came off the bench and hit three three-pointers as part of a 14-point performance while high school teammates and forwards in junior Amanda Rose (Uniontown/Green) and Lauren Forquer (North Canton/Green) had 11 and 10 points respectively to round out the double digit scorers for Mount Union.

Megan Porter had a game-high 19 points for Ohio Northern (15-8, 10-6 OAC).

There were four ties and four lead changes in the first half but the Raiders kept the Polar Bears off the board in the final 3:21 of the half and took a 34-28 into the locker room.

Six more ties and two lead changes were in the first seven minutes of the second half before Mount Union scored five-straight points on a Forquer layup and a Crider three-pointer to take the lead for good, 52-47 with 12:27 to go.

The Raiders stretched the margin to 13 points before settling for the 10-point victory.
