UW-L Earns Fifth Straight Win

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team, receiving votes on this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, earned its fifth straight win with a 56-44 victory over UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 18-5 overall and 11-3 in the WIAC while the Titans fall to 11-12 overall and 6-8 in the conference.

UW-L never trailed Wednesday night, racing out to a 13-2 lead as UW-Oshkosh missed eight of its first nine shots from the field. The Titans cut the lead to 17-10 with 8:10 left in the first half, but the Eagles ended the half on a 12-3 run to lead 29-13 at halftime.

The Eagles led by as many as 25 in the second half at 51-26 with 8:16 remaining. The Titans could get no closer than the final margin of 12, outscoring the Eagles 12-2 in the final 5:17.

Danielle Frank led UW-L with 16 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. She added three assists and two steals. Dana Churchill finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Kassie Robinson added eight points off the bench.

UW-L shot 35.6% from the field, including 28.6% (six-of-21) from three-point range, and 66.7% (eight-of-12) at the free throw line.

Shelby Churchill led UW-Oshkosh with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Katie Kitzke finished with 10 points. Michelle Boeder had nine points. 

The Titans shot 30.8% from the field, including 33.3% (three-of-nine) from three-point range, and 64.3% (nine-of-14) at the line.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, February 16 at UW-River Falls starting at 7:05 p.m.
