Brooklyn Improves To 9-2 In Conference With 56-36 Win Over City Tech

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team (13-9, 9-2 CUNYAC) traveled to Downtown Brooklyn on Monday as they defeated conference rival City Tech (3-20, 1-11 CUNYAC), 56-36 in their second meeting of the season.

The win was the team's ninth conference victory, matching their total from the previous two seasons. 

Junior guard Lauren Plagainos led the Bulldogs with 14 points, while hitting on four three-pointers in only 20 minutes of action.  Plagainos also had a game-high 5 steals.

Her backcourt mate, Ariel Smith, who saw 23 minutes of playing time, scored 10 points, dished out seven assists and nabbed four steals.

Justine O'Callahan was the third member of the Bulldog's starting lineup to notch double-figure scoring, netting 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds .

Brooklyn notched an outstanding 19 steals on the evening, but had a rough shooting night, only hitting on 38% from the field and just under 38% from the foul line. 

City Tech was led by Erica Simon's 11 points and 17 rebounds.  Barbara Richards chipped in with 10 for the Yellow Jackets.

Brooklyn will head home on Wednesday to take on York at 5:00 pm.  With a win, the Bulldogs would clinch their second consecutive CUNYAC South Division Title.  City Tech will travel to Medgar Evers on Friday in their final game of the season.
