(Buffalo, NY) – The Lady Mavs won the showdown of the AMCC's top two teams as they played a terrific all around game and beat Pitt-Bradford (75-64) this evening in the Sullivan Center.  They used a scorching second half in which they shot  (65.2%) from the field as well as out rebounding the Panthers (42-29) over forty minutes to earn the critical conference victory.

The Lady Mavs had five different players reach double figures in scoring but it was freshman Bianca Smiley (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) who would lead the way as she posted game highs in scoring (23 points) and rebounding (11 boards), while putting on an equally dominant performance on the defensive end of the field with (5) steals and (2) blocked shots.

Senior Mame Yaa Ankoma-Mensa (Brampton, ONT/D'youville) knocked down (5 of 9) shots from the floor for (11) points while also grabbing (10) rebounds.  Fellow senior Kacie Mills (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) had (13) points and (7) assists, while juniors Meghan Dougherty (Buffalo, NY/Nichols) (12 points) and Tanisha Travis (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (12 points – 7 boards) rounded out the double digit scorers.

The Lady Mavs continued to earn victories in the painted area as they outscored Pitt-Bradford (44-24) in the lane.  That strong play down low earned Medaille (23) trips to the charity stripe, where they knocked down (17) of those attempts (73.9%).  The Panthers reached the free throw line just ten times.

The victory moves Medaille to (16-2) overall and puts them alone atop the conference standings at (11-1).  They will host Franciscan University on Saturday (1/29) for a 2:00pm tip-off.
