INDIANOLA - Simpson enjoyed its best shooting performance of the season Saturday, helping head coach Brian Niemuth earn career victory number 450 in a 118-58 win over Luther at Cowles Fieldhouse.

"I didn't even know about it (450 wins) until after the game," Niemuth said. "The ladies played really well tonight and when they play well, I get the victories. The wins are just a bi-product of how the team plays."

Ali Sokol and Tess Myer led the Storm (15-3, 9-0 IIAC) with 15 points each. As a team, Simpson shot a season-best 56.8 percent from the field and extended its winning streak to 14 games.

The Storm, with a healthy, 24-point lead at half, went on to score 70 points in the second half on just under 70 percent shooting. They connected on 10 of their 13 3-point attempts and went 14-19 from the charity stripe in the final period.

"We had a good, solid 20 minutes but let's finish with a great 20 minutes," Niemuth challenged his team at halftime. "I think they took that to heart and stepped up. We put 40 minutes together tonight."

Amy Hamilton scored 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers. Jamie Elbert tallied 12 points while dishing out seven assists.  Mindy Hutchcroft added 11 points and Jeni Hegstrom grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while scoring nine points. Ashley Rogers handed out six assists.

Sam Jewell led the Norse (5-13, 1-8 IIAC) with 26 points, going 18-for-23 from the free-throw line.

Despite one of the strongest efforts of the season, Niemuth knows there is still room for improvement.

"I firmly believe you either get better or you get worse so we will not stay the same," Niemuth said. "We can still get better defensively, we can get better as a rebounding team, so we definitely have some things to work on."

Simpson looks to improve its 14-game winning streak and remain undefeated in the conference when they take on Loras in Dubuque on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
