No. 2 Thomas More Remains Undefeated With a 51-31 Win at Grove City

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) - The second-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team remained undefeated today (Saturday, January 22, 2011) as it defeated Grove City College, 51-31, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at the Grove City College Arena in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 17-0 overall and 9-0 in PAC.  With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 9-8 overall and 5-4 in the PAC.

With the game tied at 2-2 with 19:26 to play in the first half, the Saints went on a 26-2 run capped by a three-pointer by senior forward Dana Bors (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) to take a 28-4 lead with 1:47 to play in the first half.  Grove City closed out the half on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 28-8 at halftime when Sarah Cessar made one-of-two free-throws with 39-seconds to play in the opening half.

Grove City opened the second half on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 28-13 with 19:16 to play in the game when Leah Gibson made a three-pointer.  Thomas More answered with a 9-4 run capped by a two free-throws by freshman guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) to extend the lead to 37-17 with 12:39 to play in the game.  The Wolverines responded with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 37-23 with 9:00 to play in the game when Hannah Jo Coneby made a lay-up.  The Saints then closed out the game ona 14-8 run for the 51-31 victory.

Thomas More was led in scoring by sophomore guard Chelsea Tolliver (Morning View, Ky./Simon Kenton) with a game-high 10 points and sophomore forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) with nine points.  Senior center Nicole Dickman (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) led the team on the boards with a game-high 11 rebounds and added a team-high three steals.

The Saints return to action on Tuesday (January 25) when they host Chatham University at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
