Jessica Dulebascored 20 points and Folashade Akinderecorded an important steal late in the game to help lift the Baruch Bearcats to a 73-72 CUNYAC home victory over the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Friday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (14-4, 7-0 CUNYAC) shot 45 percent (29-64) from the field and out-scored the Bulldogs, 16-2, in fast break points to stay undefeated in the CUNYAC standings.

The visiting Bulldogs (9-7, 5-2 CUNYAC) stayed competitive throughout the contest by shooting 8-of-17 from three-point range and took a brief lead (26-25) with 3:46 left in the first half on a free throw by Elisha Raiford.

The Bearcats responded by scoring the next 11 consecutive points to take a 36-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Camille Voitothad her finest evening in a Baruch uniform with 10 first half points.

During the second half, the Bearcats led by 12 points (45-33) behind the efforts of Duleba with a three-pointer and two layups, but Brooklyn rallied in dramatic fashion by scoring the next 18 consecutive points for a 51-45 advantage with 11:39 remaining.

The Bearcats fought back on a Voitot three-pointer for a 56-55 lead and they would never relinquish that advantage the rest of the game. However, Brooklyn did have possession and the final shot opportunity with eight seconds left, but Akinde came up with a big steal as the Bulldogs attempted the winning shot.

The Bearcats were fouled, but missed a one-on-one free throw with seven seconds left. Brooklyn charged down court for another winning shot opportunity but could not connect to end the exciting CUNYAC contest in the ARC Arena.

Duleba led Baruch with 20 points, while Akinde and Voitot finished with 18 points each. Akinde also had a double-double with 12 rebounds and a career-high seven steals.

Lauren Plagainos led Brooklyn with 18 points (4-6, 3fg) and six assists.

The women's basketball team will return to action on Monday, January 24, with a 2:30 pm CUNYAC contest against the Lightning of Lehman College. This contest will be played at the Prudential Center Arena in Newark, New Jersey, which is home to NBA contests of the New Jersey Nets.
