PITTSBURGH, PA (January 19, 2011) . . . The Chatham University women's basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak tonight with a 58-55 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over visiting Thiel College.

The two teams kept it very close tonight in a game that featured six ties and five lead changes. The Cougars led by only one at halftime and these teams would trade baskets and the game would remain close well into the second half as well.

The game was knotted at 55 with just six seconds remaining and Sonjia Hoston (Homestead, PA/Wilkinsburg) was at the foul line with two shots. She connected on the first, but the second was off the mark. Teammate Colleen Kiss (McKeesport, PA/Oakland Catholic) grabbed the rebound and was fouled. Kiss would go on to make both free throw attempts and the Cougar would snap a four-game losing streak with a 58-55 victory.

Kiss scored 18 points tonight, tying her season-high, while Carly Zelenak (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Mt. Pleasant) grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in the victory.

Chatham (6-10, 2-7) begins the second half of PAC play on Saturday, January 22nd as they host Waynesburg University at 7 pm. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Cougars in their first meeting this season with a buzzer beater shot in overtime (66-64).
