GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior Julie McGrory (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) poured in 14 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lead Gettysburg to a 70-57 victory over 19th-ranked Muhlenberg College inside Bream Gym Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (10-4, 5-4 CC), which held Muhlenberg (10-3, 6-2 CC) to its worst shooting effort at the season at 29.3 percent, avenged a three-point loss to Muhlenberg (10-3, 6-2 CC) back on Nov. 23. McGrory put up 21 points for the third time in her career, while senior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) provided 15 points for the victors.

The last time these two teams met in Bream Gym, Muhlenberg tallied the winning bucket with five seconds to go in a 60-59 decision. Saturday's contest had the makings of another tight affair early with the team's trading the lead five times in the first eight minutes. McGrory tied the game at 15-all on a jumper at 12:13, kicking off an 8-0 run that was capped by a Katie Earley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) three-pointer to put the hosts up 21-15 with 9:37 in the opening period.

Muhlenberg forced the game's final tie at 25 on a jumper by Kelly McKeon at 5:22, but 15 seconds later Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) knocked down an open jumper to put the Bullets in front. Five more tallies, including two buckets by Moser gave Gettysburg its largest lead of the opening half at seven points, an advantage it would carry into the locker room.

The hosts padded the lead early in the final stanza, including another Earley three-pointer that pushed the advantage to double figures (43-33) at 15:26. The margin grew to 13 later in the period, before Muhlenberg mounted a comeback, netting eight-straight points, including six at the line, to slice the deficit to 55-50 with 7:09 left.

McGrory squashed the comeback bid by swishing a jumper from the wing at 6:53 and Gettysburg maintained the upper-hand by knocking down 10-of-13 free throws in the final 4:45 to seal the win.

Muhlenberg connected on just 17-of-58 field goals, including just 3-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Bullet defenders zoned in on the conference's leading scorer, Alexandra Chili, and held her to just 4-of-16 shooting from the field and just 2-of-7 from three-point land. Chili finished 14 points, seven below her season average, while McKeon led the Mules with 17 points and six rebounds.

Gettysburg canned 44 percent of its shot attempts (22-50), in addition to hitting 23-of-34 attempts from the charity stripe. McGrory was an efficient 7-of-12 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line and she grabbed four rebounds. Earley and fellow first-year Rianna Doane (Glen Mills, Pa./Bayard Rustin) each posted eight points, the latter adding six rebounds, while sophomore Alyssa Oursler (Middletown, Md./Middletown) logged seven points and five rebounds.

Gettysburg bounces right back into conference play by hosting Swarthmore College (10-4, 6-3 CC) on Monday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
