Cougars Lose Fourth Straight Game Today Against Bethany

PITTSBURGH, PA (January 15, 2011) . . . The Chatham University women's basketball team fell to Bethany College at the Athletic and Fitness Center in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action by a final score of 58-50 today.

 

Bethany took the lead with 17:30 remaining in the first half of play and would go on to earn the victory, never trailing again in the contest.

 

The Bison held their largest lead with just over 10 minutes to play in the second half, 46-27, but the Cougars would not go away. Chatham would go on a 20-7 run in the second half, cutting the lead to only six points with 91 seconds to play in regulation. This would be the closest the Cougars would come to their opponent in the match-up. Bethany would go on to earn the victory by eight points, 58-50.

 

Senior Kayla Hilko (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) finished the game today with 14 points and nine rebounds – nearly recording a double-double performance. Hilko connected on five field goals today, raising her career total to 344 and besting the previous school record of 333.

 

Fellow senior and teammate Barb Petty (Amelia, OH/Glen Este) collected three steals in the Cougars' loss today, moving her up to 198 for her career –a new school record for her.

 

With this fourth straight loss for the Cougars, they drop to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in PAC action. Chatham returns to action on Wednesday, January 19th at 7 pm as they host Thiel College.
