Tolliver and Kees Lead the Third-Ranked Saints to a 68-42 Win Over Bethany

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore guard Chelsea Tolliver (Morning View, Ky./Simon Kenton) and sophomore forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) each reached double-figures to lead the third-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 68-42 win over Bethany College tonight (Wednesday, January 12, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win the Saints improve to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Bison fall to 6-8 overall and 1-5 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to a 4-0 lead when senior center Nicole Dickman (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) made a lay-up with 18:25 to play in the opening half.  Bethany responded with a 5-0 run to take a 5-4 lead with 17:13 to play in the first half when Kayla Taormina made a jumper.  The Saints closed out the half on a 21-9 run to take a 35-14 lead at halftime when freshman forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) made a jumper at the buzzer.

The Saints opened the second half on an 18-11 run capped by a lay-up by sophomore guard Jill Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) to extend the lead to 53-25 with 10:37 to play in the game.  Bethany used a 12-5 run to cut the lead to 58-37 with 5:24 to play in the game when Tara Harris made one free-throw, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More closed out the game on a 10-5 run for the 68-42 win.

Tolliver and Kees finished with 12 and 10 points respectively, while freshman guard Katie Kitchens (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) just missed double-figures with nine points.  Kees led the team on the boards with a game-high nine rebounds and in blocks with three. 

Thomas More opens a three-game road trip on Saturday (January 15) when it travels to Greenville, Pennsylvania to play Thiel College at 1 p.m.
