(Buffalo, NY) – For the third straight game the 20th ranked Medaille College women's basketball team scored more than eighty points and posted a double digit victory as Mt. Aloysius fell victim to the red hot Lady Mavs (83-49).  This was a game that was never in question as Medaille picked up its ninth straight victory.

The Mounties knocked down a three to start the game and would enjoy that lead for a very short period of time before Medaille began to dominate in every facet of the game.  The Lady Mavs connected on (53.3%) of their shots from the floor in the opening half as they took a (40-29) lead into the intermission.

Strong performances could be found from all over the Lady Mavs roster but freshman Bianca Smiley (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) continued her strong play as she led all scorers in the game with (17) points on (7 of 12) shooting, she also grabbed (7) boards and blocked a shot.

Senior guard Kacie Mills (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) knocked down (5 of 7) shots for (12) points while dishing out (5) assists.  Fellow backcourt mate Joelle Pollak (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) flirted with a triple double as she scored (11) points, pulled down (10) caroms and dished out (6) assists, she also came up with (4) steals on the defensive end of the floor.

Freshman Tara Caples (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) provided a spark off the bench as she chipped in with (10) points and (4) rebounds.  The Medaille bench outscored that of Mt. Aloysius (32-16).

The battle of the paint was dominated by Medaille as they scored (48) points in the lane while the Mounties managed just eight.  Fastbreak scoring went the way of Medaille as well with the Lady Mavs tallying (18) points in transition while blanking the Mounties in that area.  Medaille also turned (22) Mt. Aloysius turnovers into (28) points of their own.

The win boosts Medaille's record to (11-1) overall and they remain unbeaten in conference play at (6-0).  They will face their toughest AMCC test to date when they host conference co-leader La Roche College tomorrow (1/9) at 1:00pm.  The Redhawks cruised past D'Youville College this afternoon (59-43).
