Marietta Women Suffer Road Loss at First Place Ohio Northern

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team suffered an 81-49 Ohio Athletic Conference loss at first place Ohio Northern University Saturday (Dec. 18) afternoon at the ONU Sports Center in Ada, Ohio. [Box Score]

Sophomore Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem/Monroe Central) scored a team-best 10 points for the Pioneers, who fell to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the league. Senior Mallory Hoff (Newport/Frontier) added eight points and a team-high five boards, while sophomore Chelsea Doutt (Cambridge/Buckeye Trail) also had eight points in the loss, which saw Marietta, who finished with 20 turnovers, shoot just 21-of-54 (38.%) from the floor and 5-of-20 (25.0%) from beyond the arc as well as 2-of-3 (66.7%) from the free throw line.

Kara Dysert paced Ohio Northern (8-1, 4-0 OAC) with a game-high 13 points and seven boards. Jeanne Bockey followed with 10 points, while Megan Porter and Joanna Snyder both had nine points in the victory. The Polar Bears, who out rebounded the Pioneers 36-22, shot 52.6% (30-of-57) from the field and 73.1% (19-of-26) from the charity stripe.

Ohio Northern, who led 42-23 at the break, never trailed and led by as many as 35 points late in the final period.

Marietta is off until Dec. 28 when it visits California Lutheran for a non-conference match-up at 10:30 p.m. EST. The Pioneers will then play at California Institute of Technology Dec. 30. That game is also at 10:30 p.m. EST.
