(Buffalo, NY) – The 22nd ranked Lady Mavs torched the nets in the opening half of their non-conference game against Clarkson University and rode that momentum to a (93-82) victory.  They built a commanding (52-27) lead at halftime and survived a valiant comeback by the visitors en route to their 5th straight win.

The Lady Mavs came out firing on all cylinders as they knocked down a trio of three's to open the game as they opened up an early 12 point lead.  When the dust settled after the opening twenty minutes, Medaille had connected on (7 of 12) shots from behind the arc and was shooting (62.1%) from the floor.

They also forced Clarkson into (10) turnovers in the first half which they turned into (20) points on the other end of the floor, while only committing (5) turnovers of their own in a sparkling start.

A pair of freshmen led the charge for Medaille as Bianca Smiley (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) poured in a game high (24) points on (9 of 13) shooting and Joelle Pollak (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) continues to impress as she connected on 80.0% of her shots from the field, including going (3 for 4) from behind the arc, finishing with (20) points.

Senior Amanda Sahhar (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) also went (3 for 4) from long range en route to a (19) point night.  While Kacie Mills (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore East) dished out a team high (6) assists.  The Lady Mavs assisted on (24 of 32) field goals in the win.  The (93) points is the Lady Mavs highest scoring output of the season.

The Lady Mavs led by as many as (30) points in the early moments of the second half but the Golden Knights made  a strong run to close the gap.  That run would not be enough as Medaille knocked down some critical shots late to earn the win.

The Lady Mavs are now (7-1) on the year and they will have nearly two weeks off as they don't hit the floor again until Thursday (12/30) when they host William Smith College at 2:00pm in a non-conference tilt.
