Beaudoin earns 200th win as Farmington women roll by UMPI

FARMINGTON, Maine -- Ashley Busque (Belgrade, Maine) scored a game-high 19 points to lead the University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team to a 67-46 victory over University of Maine at Presque Isle in non-conference action today at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Farmington (2-6) is off for break. The Beavers are scheduled to return to action Jan. 6 at Plymouth State. The Owls (1-6) are slated to host Eastern Maine Community College Saturday at 1 p.m.

The win was the 200th of Farmington women's basketball head coach Jamie Beaudoin. In his 12th season at the helm of the Beavers, Beaudoin has amassed a record of 200-104.

Jillian Ross (Belfast, Maine) pitched in 15 points for the Beavers. Busque and Ross each hit three 3-pointers as Farmington finished with 11 threes for the game. Holly Oliver (Belgrade Lakes, Maine) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as Farmington held a 40-31 advantage on the boards.

Led by three assists each by Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) and Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine), Farmington had assists on 15 of its 20 baskets.

Emily Pelletier (Fort Kent, Maine) paced UMPI with 11 points, while Megan Korhonen (Littleton, Maine) added nine points and Emily Moore (Lisbon, Maine) dished out five assists.

The Owls started with a 7-2 spurt and maintained the lead for a majority of the opening half, holding a 22-20 edge with 6:57 left in the frame. Led by two 3-pointers by Lindsay Gordon (Winslow, Maine), the Beavers outscored UMPI 14-2 over the final 4:28 of the first half to take a 39-27 lead into intermission.

Farmington led 41-28 when threes by Busque and Ross helped the hosts to a 48-28 lead in the first five minutes of the second half. The advantage grew to as many as 26 points as the Beavers sealed up Beaudoin's 200th career victory with a 67-46 win.
