CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College women's basketball team won their fourth straight game to open the season with an 88-41 win over Division I University of New Orleans on Tuesday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

The Privateers trailed 21-16 with 5:11 left in the first half before the Lady Choctaws went on a 22-6 run to end the first half.

MC would extend the lead in the second half, helped by 68% (17-25) shooting from the floor and outrebounding UNO, 52-23.

Senior Jennifer Wair led the way for MC with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  The Camden native tallied a double-double in the first half with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior Brigit Taylor also recorded double-figures in scoring with 12 points on 3-4 shooting from the floor and 6-11 shooting from the free throw line.

Sophomore Valeri Stewart added 10 points on 5-12 shooting.  Senior Jalessa Taylor and sophomore Caitlin Brown each finished with six rebounds, while junior Sabrina Townsend led the Lady Choctaws with four assists.

Megan Buckley led UNO with 12 points on 4-18 shooting.  The Privateers struggled from the floor all night, shooting 26% (13-51) from the floor as a team.

The Lady Choctaws will go into the Thanksgiving break at 4-0 and will return to the floor on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they open conference play by hosting Texas Lutheran.
