Tolliver Leads 18th-Ranked Saints to a 68-40 Win at Anderson

(ANDERSON, Ind.) - Sophomore guard Chelsea Tolliver (Morning View, Ky./Simon Kenton) scored a game-high 19 points to lead the 18th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a, 68-40, win over Anderson University today (Saturday, November 20, 2010) in the championship game of the Anderson Tip-Off Tournament at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium in Anderson, Indiana.

With the win, the Saints improve to 2-0 and with the loss, the Ravens fall to 1-1.

Thomas raced out to a 916-5 lead when Tolliver made a three-pointer with 13:54 to play in the first half.  Anderson answered with a 6-0 run capped by a jumper by Ellen Thompson to cut the lead to 16-11 with 10:57 to play in the opening half.  The Saints responded with an 18-2 run to take a 34-13 lead with 4:09 to play in the half when freshman forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) made a layup.  The Ravens closed out the half on a 6-4 run to cut the Saints' lead to 38-19 at halftime.

The Saints opened the second half on a 12-1 run to extend the lead to 50-20 with 16:23 to play in the game when sophomore guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a  three-pointer.  Anderson responded with an 8-0 run capped by a three-pointer by Thompson to cut the lead to 50-28 with 12:02 to play in the second half.  That would be as close as Anderson would come as Thomas More led by as many as 35 points on two occasions in the second half as it went on to the 68-40 win.

Tolliver was the only Saint in double-figures as Dickman and Corey just missed with nine and eight points respectively.  Corey led the team on the boards with eight rebounds, while Tolliver led the team in assists with four and sophomore forward Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the in blocks with three.

The Saints are idle until next Saturday (November 27) when they host Otterbein University during the first day of the Julie Costello Memorial Classic at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.  The Saints and Cardinals will tip-off at 4 p.m
