Allentown, Pa. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team was defeated at Muhlenberg on Friday night in the first game of the Scotty Wood Tournament by a score of 101-47. Sophomore Andree DeLeon (Flushing, N.Y.) led the Mount with 11 points.
The Dolphins were held to just 34.6-percent shooting in the contest with DeLeon the only player scoring in double figures. DeLeon finished 3-for-8 from the floor on Friday and went 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. She also added a rebound and handed out two assists.
Junior Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) chipped in with nine points on 4-for-9 shooting in the contest and added a game-high 12 rebounds for the Dolphins. Freshman Sarah Kluth (Lynbrook, N.Y.) had a solid night in her second career game with team-highs in steals and assists with four in each category to go along with five rebounds.
Muhlenberg placed three players in double figures in the contest led by Alexandra Chili's 29 points. Alita Zabrecky posted a double-double for the Mules, who trailed only once in the tilt.
Overall in the game, Muhlenberg shot an even 50-percent from the floor and just under 43-percent from three-point range. The Mules also held a 46-33 edge on the glass, pulling down 19 offensive rebounds leading to 23 second chance points.
The loss evens Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 1-1 on the season. The Dolphins will close out play in the tournament on Saturday afternoon against Lehman. Tip-off with the Lightning is slated for 1:00 p.m.
