MADISON, N.J. (November 16, 2010) - In the final day of the Fairleigh Dickinson Tip-Off Classic, the Rangers prevailed over Centenary College, 74-69. Both the Rangers and the FDU Devils won two games in two days, giving them both a share of the tournament title.

Drew (2-0) had four of its five starters in double figures including senior Jess Reid (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) who recorded her second career double-double. Her 13 rebounds and 10 points helped pace the Rangers offense that got over for the 70 point mark for the second time in two games.

Centenary (0-2) only had the lead twice in the game but would keep the game close all the way to final minutes. The Cyclones held the lead for the first five minutes of the ball game but would finally relinquish it when Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) hit a turn around jumper in the lane to make the score 6-5. For the majority of the first half the two teams would trade baskets with Drew holding the largest lead of 11 with 5:35 remaining in the half.

The Cyclones would recover and chip away at the Ranger lead with a 12-0 run just before the end of the half. Centenary hit two threes and picked up six more points off three Ranger turnovers. Drew would stop the bleeding with layups from Brianna Reich (Sea Bright, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) and Britta Olsen (Hallowell, Maine/Hall-Dale). Last night's leading scorer, Dana Coronato (Toms River, N.J./Toms River-North) was able to hit a jumper before the half to give the Rangers a three-point advantage going into the locker room.

Drew would not give up the lead for the remainder of the game and saw much of the same back and forth action in the second half of play. Their largest lead came with 6:27 left in the game when the Rangers opened up an nine point advantage courtesy of a Cornoroto deep ball.

Both teams would go over the foul limit turning the final four minutes of play into a a free throw shooting contest. The Rangers would go 5-for-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to hold of the surging Cyclones.

Danielle Barber (Cape May Courthouse, N.J./Middle Twp.) and Coronato led the way for the Rangers with 16 points apiece. Ault was the other Ranger to reach double digits as she had 12 points while hauling in eight rebounds.

Drew will hit the road this weekend to take part in the UMass-Boston Tournament. The Rangers will play Friday night at 5:30 against Rutgers-Newark. They play again Saturday against either UMass-Boston or the College of St. Joseph at a time to be determined.
