Benedictine Men Fall for the First Time in NACC Play

AURORA, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Aurora team in losing for the first time in conference play.

THE DETAILS
Leading 8-7 early in the first half, Michael Johnson opened an 8-0 run by knocking down a three-pointer
Kyle Graebner dropped in a layup at the 12:40 mark to make the score 20-10
A three-pointer from Nick Kosich handed Benedictine a 32-16 edge with 7:11 left in the first
Aurora responded by hitting three triples as part of an 11-0 run to get back into the contest
The hosts tied the game with just over a minute left in the half but Benedictine scored the final three points to lead 39-36 at the break
Kosich hit back-to-back three and Cade Ellingson drained a jumper as Benedictine opened a 56-47 advantage with 12:14 remaining
Aurora continued to make three-pointers, hitting 15 overall, and took the lead at 70-68 with 4:22 to play
Trailing by seven points at 79-72 with 1:41 left, Benedictine trimmed the deficit to four points but missed a pair of shots and a free throw in an attempt to battle from behind

Kosich totaled a season high 16 points, making four three-pointers
Trevor Montiel notched 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in his sixth double-figure game of the year
Kyle Graebner finished with 11
Benedictine shot 47 percent for the game
Rebounds were even at 30-30
