Sophomore Mason Johnson and junior Nick Stuck combined for 34 points in leading the Emory men's basketball team to a Sunday afternoon win at home against Case Western Reserve.  The No. 8-ranked Eagles led from start to finish and raised their overall record to 14-2, 4-1 in the University Athletic Association, following a decisive 106-70 triumph over the Spartans who fell to 8-8 in overall action, 1-4 in the conference.

Johnson paced six double-figure Emory scorers with a career-high 18 points, hitting four-of-seven from the floor, including a pair of triples, and eight-of-nine free throws in logging his third double-digit contest of the year.  Stuck totaled 16 points, converting five field goals in 10 attempts including two triples.  He also doled out a game-high five assists. Junior Luke Morrison enjoyed his most productive performance of the campaign with 13 points, closing out the afternoon sinking four-of-eight field goals, including three treys, and a pair of charity tosses.  Juniors Matt Davet, Lawrence Rowley and Matthew Schner all contributed 10 points to the cause that saw Emory win its eighth game at the Woodruff PE Center in nine outings.

Emory finished the day successful on 50 percent (36-of-72) of its field goal attempts, the fifth time this season it had reached that standard, and drained a stunning 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from beyond the arc, the program's 14th-highest game mark in school history.  The Eagles' 16 three-pointers tied both a season high and the school's sixth-most in a contest.  Twelve of the 14 players who saw action found their way into the scoring column with eight dialing up three-point field goals.  Emory grabbed 46 rebounds to CWRU's 33 and was led in that category by Schner's 12 boards.

With Johnson scoring 11 points and Davet chipping in 10, Emory took a 47-30 lead into halftime.   Holding a six-point edge, five points from Schner and four from Davet sparked a 12-5 spurt that pushed the Eagles to a 28-15 lead with 8:56 left in the opening half. The Spartans did draw to within nine after a bucket by Michael Hollis with 5:01 on the clock, but aided by Morrison knocking down a pair of triples, Emory rattled off a 13-4 burst over the next four minutes that extended its margin to 46-27.

A three-pointer by Johnson at the start of the second half gave the Eagles a 20-point lead, which grew to 26 points, 68-42 with 14:22 remaining in the game after three-pointers by Rowley, Stuck and Schner highlighted a 12-2 barrage.  Emory reserves saw extensive action down the stretch, producing 22 points over the final 6:37 of the contest.

The Eagles return to action next Friday (Jan. 31) when they play at the University of Chicago in a 9:00 pm start (EST).
