GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy erased an eight-point deficit with 5:39 left, ending the game on a 15-2 run to take down Neumann, 62-57, and extend their win streak to six games Wednesday evening at The Griffin Complex. The victory keeps the Griffins unbeaten in Atlantic East play.

Donaven Spencer hit a baseline jumper with 59 ticks remaining to put the Griffins ahead for good. The junior finished the game with nine points, 10 rebounds, and four assists which were all team highs.

Scoring was at a premium in the first 20 minutes, as the teams were a combined 17-for-57. GMercyU hung tough to claim a 24-23 lead at halftime.

The Knights put together an 11-1 stretch to hold a 42-33 edge with 13 minutes to go and later 52-43 with seven minutes left. Gwynedd methodically climbed back in it with Spencer hitting some key buckets. His streaking layup off a turnover drew a foul 1:35 remaining to tie things at 57-57 and got the crowd up on its feet. He missed the ensuing free throw but redeemed himself with his eventual go-ahead bucket on the next possession.

Waheem Loman led Neumann with 15 points. Teammate Sanoussi Abdourhamane added 11 points and 10 boards.

The team heads to Immaculata on Saturday for a conference clash with the Mighty Macs.
