LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior Kody Greenhalgh scored a career-high 26 points, first-year Omar Sarr tallied a double-double, and the Bates men's basketball team rolled to a 98-81 win over Hamilton Saturday afternoon in NESCAC action.

Greenhalgh (West Warwick, R.I.) shot 9-17 from the floor and 4-10 from three-point range. He added four rebounds and three assists on the afternoon. Sarr (Dakar, Senegal) turned in another amazing performance on both ends of the floor, scoring 15 points on 6-11 shooting, grabbing a season-high 18 rebounds, and blocking six shots for the second straight day on defense.

Seniors Tom Coyne (Falmouth, Maine) and Jeff Spellman (Boston, Mass.) provided plenty of support in the scoring column. Coyne hit four three-pointers on his way to 21 points on 7-15 shooting and Spellman finished with 19 points on 7-10 shooting. Meanwhile, senior Nick Gilpin (Hampden, Maine) tallied 10 rebounds and game-high seven assists.

The Bobcats (9-5, 2-1 NESCAC) held the NESCAC's leading scorer Kena Gilmour to three points in the first half on their way to a 52-40 halftime lead. Gilmour got hot in the second half and finished with a team-high 15 points on 5-10 shooting. The Continentals (11-5, 1-3 NESCAC) also got strong performances from Eric Anderson and Nick Osarenren off the bench. Anderson scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Osarenen added 11 points on 4-9 shooting.

After hitting just one three in 19 attempts against Amherst, the Bobcats drilled 11 threes in 30 attempts against Hamilton. Bates shot 49.3% from the floor overall and held Hamilton to 35.1% shooting. The Bobcats out-rebounded Hamilton 50-40 on the afternoon and tallied 19 second chance points to Hamilton's four.

Hamilton went up 7-2 on a pair of Vince Gill free throws with 18:18 left in the first half. Spellman responded with a personal 4-0 run before Gilmour hit a three with 17:20 left, making the score 10-7 in favor of the Continentals. Spellman scored the next three points of the game, tying it at 10.

The teams went back-and-forth over the next few minutes before Greenhalgh gave Bates the lead for good with 9:08 left in the first half at 26-25 on a layup. Sarr followed with a layup of his own and Greenhalgh drilled a three with 7:52 to go, putting Bates up 31-25.

With the score at 38-34, the Bobcats went on an 8-0 run to take a 12-point lead on a corner three from junior James Mortimer (Sudbury, Mass.) with 3:33 remaining in the opening half.

Up 52-40 at halftime, the Bobcats survived the inevitable Hamilton run in the second half.

An Osarenren three with 9:03 left in regulation cut the Bates lead to 76-72. Spellman answered with a layup and the Bobcats worked it back to a double digit advantage. Sarr delivered the dagger with 6:24 left, converting an old-fashioned three-point play and putting Bates up 85-74.

A Conner Rood layup with 4:22 left trimmed the Bates advantage to 88-78. But the Bobcats immediately went on a 10-0 run, putting the game completely out of reach.

Saturday's 98 points matches Bates' season-high for points in a game this season and is the most the Bobcats have scored in a NESCAC contest since 2002.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday when they visit UMaine-Farmington for a 7pm tip.
