More news about: Lake Forest

Freshman guard Aidyn Albright led Lake Forest with 24 points in a 76-73 victory over Monmouth College at home Wednesday evening.

Albright shot 7-for-14 overall and 5-for-10 from three-point range in the contest. He was joined in double figures by freshman wing Reece Taylor and sophomore guard Tashon Brown with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Freshman wing Zak Klug led the home team with 10 rebounds and Brown with four assists.

Lake Forest shot 51 percent from the field and 10-for-25 from beyond the arc. They also grabbed 38 rebounds to the Fightings Scots' 25.

Monmouth led by as many as six points and the Foresters by two during an opening period that included six lead changes in the final seven minutes. The Scots took a 43-40 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The visitors' lead grew to a game-high 10 points at 60-50 with 13:48 remaining but Lake Forest scored the next 10 points and tied the score on a pair of free throws by Brown with 9:50 to play. Neither team led by more than four the rest of the way and the Foresters finally pulled ahead for good on a traditional three-point play by Taylor with four minutes left. A Fighting Scot layup with a minute-and-a-half remaining and a pair of free throws by Albright with just 16.1 seconds on the clock accounted for the rest of the game's scoring and the home team came away with the victory.

Lake Forest is now 4-3 overall this season and 1-1 in Midwest Conference play. It was the first loss in seven games this year for the Fighting Scots, who are also 1-1 in the league.

The Foresters' next game will be played at Pomona-Pitzer in California on December 29. Lake Forest will also play at Claremont-Mudd Scripps the next night before completing the regular season with 16 consecutive MWC contests.
