SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's basketball team ended Centre's six-game winning streak and extended their own victory streak to four games with a key victory over Centre College in the Southern Athletic Association opener. The Tigers defeated the Colonels, 80-58, Saturday afternoon from Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Despite the Tigers struggled to connect from downtown in the first 20 minutes, the hosts made up for with 20 rebounds in the half and six blocks resulting in a 26-22 lead at the break.
-Early in the second half, the visitors made it a one-possession affair, 31-29, but the Tigers went to work, pushing the lead to seven, 36-29.
-After the Colonels made it a four-point contest again, 38-34, at the under-16 timeout, the Tigers put the contest away from there, outscoring the opponent 29-5 in an eight-minute span to lead 67-39 with 8:43 left in the contest.
-After a 1-of-12 mark from downtown in the first 20 minutes, the Tigers dropped 54 points in the second half thanks to a 19-of-29 (65.5%) performance from the field and 9-of-15 from 3-point land.

-Adrian Thomas led all scorers with a career-high 34 points on 15-of-19 shooting, In the second half, he was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field for 20 points. He also added five rebounds and three steals.
-Off the bench, Mackie Garwood knocked down four 3-points to finish with 12 points. The sophomore added three assists.
-Jordan Warlick totaled 11 points, while Joey Knox posted nine points and seven boards.
-Ryan Starr dished out six assists while Jonny Crumly corralled eight boards and had three blocks.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Perry Ayers led the visitors with 16 points and five rebounds.
-Bailey Rakes and Dawson Crump each contributed 11 points.
