COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jamezell Davis, Jr. still owns the flair for the dramatic.

The junior guard from Ypsilanti, Mich., knocked down a jumper from the left of the free throw line with 1.4 seconds remaining to lift Albion College to a 72-70 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University in non-league men's basketball action.

Albion was 11-0 in games decided by six points or less last season and Davis produced game-winning baskets in the regular season road game against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College and in the MIAA Tournament semifinal game against Olivet College.

The Britons trailed by 11 early in the second half, but frontcourt mates Caden Ebeling and Quinton Armstrong produced the scoring on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 45-41 with 16 ½ minutes left.

Ebeling and Armstrong provided the scoring as Albion went on a 6-0 run to bring Albion within one, 62-61, with four minutes to play. MJ Barnes tied the score at 64 with a 3-point basket and the Britons took a 66-64 lead on Armstrong's basket with two minutes left.

Albion 70-67 on Ebeling's basket with a minute left, but Ohio Wesleyan tied the score with a 3-point basket by Nick Carlson with nine seconds left.

  • Ebeling added a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. He was 8-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line
